Roger Vigulf started playing clarinet at Aalesund music school, at the age of ten played his first concert in Oslo University Hall, at the age of twelve he became the youngest member of the Norwegian Youth Band.

 

Clarinettist Roger Vigulf was born in Spjelkavik, Eastern Norway. He studied clarinet at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with professor Richard Kjelstrup, chamber music with Leif Jørgensen, and had further clarinet studies with Lee Morgan in Copenhagen.

 

Roger Vigulf has been clarinettist in the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, principal clarinettist in Opera Mobile in Oslo (1986-95), Concert master in the Military Band of North-Norway (2001) and Principal clarinettist with the Kristiansund Opera (1998). He has collaborated with many famous musicians and conductors, such as pianists, professor Einar Henning Smebye, Geir Henning Braaten, professor Einar Steen Noekleberg, quartets like Cicada String Quartet, Chordos Quartet, Vilnius State Quartet, conductors like David Porselijn, Matthew Rowe and Christian Eggen. In 2008 his engagements included soloist with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, CD recording with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, soloist with Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra. He has been invited as soloist with UCLA University in Los Angeles and many international festivals. Since 2001, he has worked internationally as a clarinet soloist.

As composer, his music has been performed in Bosnia-Herzegovina, USA, Lithuania, Netherland, Sweden and Norway. In may 2007, his piece "7 Disobedient Birds" was recorded live in the Lithuania National Philharmonic Hall by the Lithuanian National Radio Corp.
